SINAKEKELE
Sinakekele Children, founded by Ruth Grobler, is a non-profit organization located outside of Durban, South Africa, which takes in abandoned babies. I was heavily involved with them for 8 years and because of them, I cannot shake off this desire to get back and continue working with them and help out other non-profits such as themselves.
Please watch the video, which was filmed and edited by the founder's amazing daughter Tarryn, to learn what Sinakekele is about. Ruth is a hardworking, honest women and I have seen her strength persevere since she started Sinakekele 20 years ago. Sinakekele is a very worthy cause to donate to and volunteer at!
Local attractions for international volunteers are the beaches of course! It is about a 30-minute drive to the Indian ocean and Umhlanga. Umhlanga Gateway is a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Sinakekele for shopping, movies, restaurants, and entertainment. A fun place to go to beat the heat is uShaka Marine World or if you prefer learning about sharks you can go visit the Sharks Board. Outdoor enthusiast? Maloti-Drakensberg Park is about a 2 and a half hour drive or you can visit Hluhluwe Game Reserve If you want to plan a longer road trip, I highly recommend the Garden Route starting off in Cape Town.
*SINAKEKELE IS NOT TAKING INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS AT THIS TIME.*
